2: Limited to cutting depth. There are also certain limitations to the cutting depth of diamond wire saws. The cutting depth is limited by the length and rigidity of the cutting tool, and other auxiliary methods such as multiple cutting overlays or cutting chamfers are required for deeper cuts.
3: Vibration and noise during cutting process: Due to the high cutting force required during the cutting process of diamond wire saws, vibration and noise will occur. Long term use may cause certain fatigue and impact on the operator’s arms and ears.
4: Requires specialized equipment and operational skills: The use of diamond wire saw requires corresponding equipment and operating techniques, including fixed equipment, cutting fluid, and adjustment of cutting parameters. For some non professionals or beginners, some training and experience accumulation may be required.
5: Limited cutting surface quality: Diamond wire saws may cause rough or burrs on the cutting surface when cutting some materials. Especially for some harder and brittle materials, such as glass and ceramics, cracks and fragmentation on the cutting surface are prone to occur.
6: Heat dissipation issues during the cutting process: Diamond wire saw generates a large amount of heat during high-strength cutting. If the heat dissipation is poor, it may cause the bead to overheat, affecting the cutting effect and wire saw life.
7: Cutting accuracy is limited: Although diamond wire saws can achieve high cutting efficiency, their cutting accuracy is relatively limited. For some cutting tasks that require high precision, other more precise cutting tools may be required.
8: Cutting material limitations: Diamond wire saws are suitable for cutting many materials, including stone, concrete, metal, etc. However, for some special materials, such as high hardness ceramics and superhard alloys, the cutting effect of diamond wire saws may not be ideal.
9: Water dust pollution during cutting: Diamond wire saw requires the use of cutting fluid for cooling and lubrication during the cutting process, which may cause water and dust pollution at the cutting site. Corresponding protective and cleaning measures need to be taken.
10: Handling issues after wire saw breakage: Once there is a problem of wire saw breakage or the beads getting stuck in the cutting gap, if the missing beads cannot be removed, the entire large surface will need to be re-cut. Therefore, for diamond wire saws that want to cut large surfaces, the problem of wire saw breakage must be avoided.
11: At present, most of the wire saws are still wet using: Dry cutting wire saws require more scientific cutting methods. For small and medium-sized quarries, if there is no water, they cannot be mined. This not only greatly increases mining costs, but also greatly increases mining difficulty.
Although diamond wire saw has some shortcomings, it is still a widely used cutting tool in the fields of stone, concrete, metal, etc. Its advantages include high hardness, strong wear resistance, and strong cutting ability. Through reasonable use and technological improvement, its advantages can be maximized and shortcomings can be overcome.
