Reasons for rust of the diamond segment and its treatment

In stone processing plants, we often find that saw blades that are not used for a few days will have a lot of rust spots on the diamond segment. These rust spots are different from ordinary rust spots. They are very hard and protrude from the segment, especially the cutting surface. If the rust spot is too large, we will find that the diamond is not exposed. If such a saw blade is forcibly used for cutting, because the diamond is not exposed on the surface of the segment, the segment has no cutting ability in the process of cutting the stone, then it will be unable to cut. In the case of stone, if the operator is not paying attention, the substrate will be bent, deformed, and tooth chipped when the saw blade is cut, which is very dangerous.

So why does the saw blade rust? This starts with the segment material. At present, most of the segments are materials that use Fe-based and Cu-based metals as the segment bond binder, because iron and copper are extremely sintered to tetrahedral diamond after high temperature sintering. Strong affinity means that it can better enhance the holding power of diamond, especially these two metal powders are cheaper. In terms of price, the segment based on these two metals is also more cost-effective, but the disadvantage is that these two The chemical properties of metals are more active, especially for iron-based segments. In a humid environment, when exposed to the air, especially at high temperatures, the oxidation reaction is very rapid. If during the cutting process, the oxide layer of the segment is cutting The segment is continuously removed from time to time, so the segment will not rust. However, when the saw blade stops working and the segment temperature changes from high to low, the segment is prone to oxidation reaction. The rust spots will be very obvious within 2-3 days.

So how to deal with these rust spots? It is mainly divided into three stages to deal with. Let's take a look separately below:

One: Design process prevention

1: High-cobalt formula is used when designing the segment, with precious metals such as cobalt-based as the main binder material. However, the price of such a segment is too high. Unless the segment is used to cut expensive stone, it is not recommended to use high-cost segment.

2: Add rust removal during the design of the segment to avoid rusty materials. For example, when mixing the material, you can add paraffin, rust inhibitor and other materials to reduce the oxidation capacity of the segment.

Two: Prevention in the production process

1: If the saw blade is not used for a long time, the processed segment can be idled to cool the segment, and then wipe the segment dry and apply rust inhibitor or oil.

Three: Derusting treatment

1: Manual rust removal, a hand grinder can be used to install the grinding wheel for rust removal.

2: Mechanical rust removal, using a grinder or belt for rust removal.

3: Chemical derusting, using derusting spray for treatment, most of which are used for substrate derusting, segment derusting is generally not used, because it will cause adverse effects such as unstable segment performance.

Rust of diamond segment is extremely common, but it needs attention. The segment produced by LINXING DIAMOND TOOLS has the characteristics of strong rust resistance, rust and easy handling, which greatly reduces the work of customers to maintain the segment, which is highly recognized by customers.
